Accordionist Matti Pulkki performs frequently with different chamber ensembles and collaborates actively with composers to create new repertoire for the instrument. Although his solo and chamber repertoire focuses mainly on original music written for accordion, he also arranges, transcribes, and performs music from a wide range of styles and eras. Pulkki performs solo recitals around the world, has made appearances on international festivals and held lectures about his instrument and its possibilities for composers at universities in Europe and North America. He is also a member of the internationally renowned and critically acclaimed ensemble Quartetto Gelato. Pulkki holds a master’s degree from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Toronto under the guidance of professor Joseph Macerollo.
